King’s Lynn and West Norfolk’s Local Plan 2026-2044: Scoping Consultation open now

I am inviting you to take part in the first consultation that we will conduct to create People, Opportunities Places, our Local Plan 2026-2044.

Our first consultation is a scoping consultation. It’s open to parish councils, borough councillors and other interested parties, such as landowners and agents, and it’s also open to the public so we can find out people’s priorities for us when making decisions about where development will go.

We have created a website that explains the plan-making process. It shows people a number of different ways of looking at the issues, to help individuals form an opinion about future development. We are then asking people to share their opinion with us.

As well as our website, you can talk to the planning policy team directly at our online session that is just for parish councils. It’s on Monday 7 September from 6pm – 7.30pm. Click here to book a place.

We have also arranged drop-in and online sessions for the public. They will be held throughout September as follows:

• Wednesday, 23 September (2pm-7pm) – Talk to us in person at Downham Market Town Hall, Bridge Street, Downham Market, PE38 9DW
• Thursday, 24 September (3pm-5pm) – Online session, click to book a slot

Our consultation covers a range of areas, from what our Local Plan should cover to an early opportunity to comment on sites that have been put forward. (Please note that this is not a draft plan, we are simply giving you an early opportunity to comment on sites that have been suggested to us.)

There is a small difference between the questions for parish councils and interested parties, and the questions for the public. We are asking the public about where they live, to help us understand their priorities for what new developments should be like. You are welcome to respond collectively as a council and individually as residents.
